Faculty Director – Sharon Hamill, Ph.D.
Dr. Sharon B. Hamill is responsible for working with the Institute to bring the message of palliative care to the students, staff, and faculty of Cal State San Marcos. She also leads the community education efforts in the San Marcos and San Diego area. Sharon received her Ph.D. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine in 1990. She is currently a Professor of Psychology at CSUSM. Her research interests include the development of personal and social responsibility among adolescent and emerging adult caregivers, multi-generational families of Alzheimer’s disease patients, and ethnic group differences in caregiving. A primary focus of her research program and teaching is on promoting quality of life and decreasing suffering in patients and their caregiving families.
