This series includes two courses that explore the science behind why food is medicine and give an in-depth understanding of how food choices can be used to manage symptoms, support holistic health, and improve for people with serious illnesses.
Understanding Food Choices and Chronic or Complex Illness
Learn about the principles of integrative medicine and the relationships between nutrition, health, and disease, as well as the importance of food quality, cultural influences, and how social determinants of health affect accessibility to healthy food options.
The Evidence for Nutrition in Palliative Care
Explore the evidence surrounding nutrition in palliative care, including the potential to improve quality of life; techniques for screening and assessing nutritional status; and how nutritional support boosts wellbeing. This course also highlights how nutrition can address symptoms such as nausea, pain, chronic fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, dehydration, and more.
