Cal State Monterey Bay is a public university in Seaside, California, along the state’s northern Central Coast. The CSU Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care at CSUMB is engaged in research, education, and awareness programs aimed at expanding access to high-quality palliative care in the surrounding communities.

Alyssa Erickson, RN, PhD
Alyssa Erikson is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing at CSU Monterey Bay and the Faculty Director of the CSU Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care at CSUMB.
New research on palliative care education in Monterey County
At the CSU Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care at CSUMB, Faculty Director Alyssa Erickson is leading research on how to best deliver palliative care education to health professionals in Monterey County. The feasibility study will shape a plan to help local clinicians deliver high quality, culturally appropriate care to people with serious illnesses and their families. In 2019, the project was awarded a $60,000 grant by the Hospice Giving Foundation.
