San Diego County palliative care professionals were encouraged to join the CSU Institute for Palliative Care at Cal State San Marcos and the San Diego Coalition for Compassionate Care for a full day of learning and collaboration on Friday, June 15, in the university ballroom. This year’s theme—Palliative Care: High Tech / High Touch—highlighted how both technology and compassionate care can increase the quality of life for patients and their families.

This outstanding conference featured renowned palliative care physician Michael Rabow, MD, FAAHPM, delivering the 2018 Thomas J. Chippendale Memorial Keynote Address. Dr. Rabow is the director of the Symptom Management Service at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a nationally recognized expert in outpatient palliative care research and delivery, and community-based palliative care.
