Nominate a Healthcare Professional for the 3rd Annual Doris A. Howell, MD, Award for Advancing Palliative Care
Do you know a healthcare professional whose work in palliative care has made a profound impact on the greater San Diego community? If so, we want to hear from you!
The CSU Shiley Institute for Palliative Care is seeking nominations for the 3rd annual Doris A. Howell, MD, Award for Advancing Palliative Care, designed to recognize a doctor, nurse, social worker or other healthcare professional whose contributions and compassion have helped significantly advance palliative care in San Diego County.
The award is named after Dr. Doris Howell, who was instrumental in developing the model of primary care medicine and palliative care as we know it – one that views each patient as a whole person.
To be eligible for the 2018 award, a nominee must be a healthcare professional practicing in the greater San Diego area whose contributions exhibit the pioneering spirit embodied by Dr. Howell in advancing care for those with serious or chronic illness and their families.
Please forward this email to your colleagues who might also like to nominate a local peer whose contributions have significantly impacted the field of palliative care!
Nominations may be submitted through midnight November 12, 2018.
The winner will be announced in early December. The 2018 Doris A. Howell, MD Award for Advancing Palliative Care recipient will be recognized on Thursday, January 10th, during an award presentation held at the CSU institute for Palliative Care in San Marcos.
