$25K in Palliative Care Training Scholarships Available

To honor National Hospice and Palliative Care Month in November, $25,000 in scholarships are being offered to San Diego County healthcare professionals seeking high-quality, online education in palliative care.

The Donald and Darlene Marcos Shiley Scholarships are available through the California State University Shiley Institute of Palliative Care to cover the full cost of tuition in any of the Institute’s palliative care courses.

Palliative care is a patient-centered, whole-person approach to healthcare that helps people with serious or life-limiting illness live well, from diagnosis until death.

The Institute’s online self-paced and instructor-led courses provide valuable continuing education (CE) hours for nurses, social workers, chaplains and other healthcare professionals caring for patients and families experiencing serious illness.

Last year, Shiley scholarships were awarded to 17 nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals working in San Diego County.

Applications are available now and can be accessed by visiting csupalliativecare.org/scholarship/. The deadline to apply is midnight Nov 8.
